The MTSU Young Democratic Socialists of America collected 253 petition signatures to change the name of Forrest Hall.
The left-leaning student organization submitted its petition on Tuesday to the Tennessee Historical Commission, who will consider granting MTSU the right to change the name of its ROTC building currently named after the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.
Naturally, the THC—whose board members are appointed by the Governor, Lt. Governor, and House Speaker—still voted against letting MTSU change the name of its own ROTC building…because leaving the history of a failed rebellion against the abolition of slavery in books or museums is not enough?
Out of all the things and people one could honor through a building’s name, it has to be the Confederacy in the South, for some odd reason…
