Hey Friend,
It’s been a busy five days since I last broadcasted! Because of that, you’re getting a pretty rambly segment on this upcoming Mike Pence event at MTSU.
It’s still quite substantive, especially for any MTSU community listeners. The audacity of such an event, as well as its orchestration, should gravely concern any MTSU community member who expects their administration to actually embrace democratic and academic principles.
An administration with democratic principles would recognize Mike Pence for who he is—a legally corrupt religious zealot. An administration with academic principles would have the common sense to understand that one action in a politician’s 20+ year career does not grant that politician the credibility to “define democracy,” especially when the rest of that career is filled with the standard instances of legalized corruption that every other corporate-owned politician enjoys.
I say all of this, of course, while I’m producing a series of interviews for my Honors College thesis—all of which, in their descriptions, contain “thank you’s” to the Honors College for letting me pursue my podcasting ambitions in an academic environment. While I think the Honors College has been a great outlet for me and other friends (and even other people who I think are total asshats!) to carry out their academic efforts, this event does blunt the sharp pride I held in participating in the Honors College’s curriculum and being a Transfer Buchanan Scholar.
Anywho, I’m writing this post way too late at night and need to get some sleep before a big day tomorrow. Thanks for watching/listening, friend, and I’ll be back next Monday for a kick ass show. (I’ve got some wild plans, but it could result in a lot of different results for next week’s show, so I’ll leave it at without any promises.)
Oh, right, you’ll probably want to see the cited Instagram posts yourselves:
Ok cool, now, I need sleep. GOOD NIGHT, FRIEND!!!! <3
9/10/2024 Correction: The initial file used was the wrong one, as it contained bits of copyrighted music at the start and end. While WMTS 88.3 FM has the right to broadcast that live on the airwaves, where this segment was recorded, I certainly don’t have those rights on here! Apologies to indie rock band Spoon and the legendary guitarist Jack White.
